THE CATALYST

SCHOLARSHIP FOR EMERGING TECH LEADERS | £1878 value

You’ve been thinking about leadership for a while now. Wondering if it’s for you. This is the sign, a fully funded place on an 18-month journey that starts by observing a Regenerative Leader from an award-winning organisation and ends with becoming one yourself.

Applications close June 30, 2026.

Who is this for

This isn’t only for UX Designers.

It’s for any tech professional feeling the pull toward leadership, including product managers, engineers, and data scientists, who want to explore what it feels like to lead with the heart by guiding a small design team to contribute to a social impact project.

You don’t need to be a leader yet. You don’t need any prior experience with our Fellowship. You just need to be curious, willing to observe, and ready to take the step you’ve been contemplating for a while.

Celebration for the first cohort

What is the Responsible Design for Change Fellowship?

It’s an unlearning and learning experience like no other, created to provide you with a safe space to explore how to begin or transform your leadership practices. It is also an invitation to be part of a community interested in figuring out how we create a world that takes into account the complexity of the systems we design within, the redistribution of power, and how we can shift our practices to take into account the next seven generations in our decision making.

“Hello! Thanks for considering this opportunity.

I’ve spent over a decade leading UX for Change and teams across tech (Microsoft, Just Eat, Trustpilot), and these experiences made me realise the importance of nurturing the next generation of tech leaders. Watching AI become the foundation of so many products reinforced my passion for creating spaces to unlearn practices that could introduce biases or negatively impact to our planet and learn ways to the way we create technology because carelessly designed products have harmed people and the planet, and now that we understand the magnitude of the harm, it is time to be more responsible in the way we lead and create.

The Catalyst is my most personal invitation yet. Six months beside me, then an introduction to responsible design, and then your own team to lead with regeneration in mind. Along the way, you’ll grow into something the tech industry needs the most: regenerative leadership, learning to lead with the heart, thinking not one quarter ahead but seven generations ahead. If these resonated with you, don’t hesitate to apply. I can’t wait to read your application”

If you’re ready, you can take the lead on one of the initiatives mapped out for the team.

Time commitment: One-hour monthly meeting, plus up to 4 hours per month Jul – Dec.
Date and time: 5:30 – 6:30 pm (UK time) on the third Wednesday of every month.

LEARN

Phase 2: JAN-Jul 2027 | £588 value

Join the Responsible Design for Change Fellowship Cohort 5 as an Individual Contributor, at no cost (£468 value), and ground yourself on the foundations for building responsible technology. During this phase, you will continue to be part of the UX4C Leadership Team and enjoy three additional 1:1 coaching sessions (£120 value) so you can move from observing to leading a one UX for Change community initiative.

Time commitment: Five hours monthly Jan – March, and 20 hours monthly Apr – Jun (during the Fellowship)
Date and time: 5:30 – 6:30 pm (UK time) on the third Wednesday of every month and 8:00 – 9:30 am (UK time and East Coast USA) every Friday from mid-April for 13 weeks (during the Fellowship)

Phase 3: Jul – Dec 2027 | £1,170 value

Return to the Fellowship Cohort 6 as a Regenerative Leader, at no cost (£1050 value). Guide a team of your own, and walk away with a leadership portfolio that’s genuinely yours. Time commitment: Five hours monthly Jul, Aug & Dec and 20 hours monthly late Sep – Nov (during the Fellowship)
Date and time: 5:30 – 6:30 pm (UK time) on the third Wednesday of every month and 8:00 – 9:30 am (UK time and East Coast USA) every week from Sep for 13 weeks (during the Fellowship)

Our PREVIOUS SCHOLARSHIPS WERE a complete sucCess

This is not the first time we have awarded a scholarship. Jon Bennallick felt so touched by the first cohort that he generously sponsored a few scholarships himself. However, The Catalys is the most comprehensive scholarship we have offered since we launched the leadership training as part of The Fellowship.
