We are UX for Change

Our Ethos

We care deeply about making a difference in the world, and we believe change comes from having a clear mission with shared values among our members. After four years of working with dozens of non-profits and the UX community, our ethos emerged from reflecting upon how we had made a positive impact among the organisations and people that have formed part of our events and volunteering projects.

Our mission

To enable positive change in the world by connecting the non-profit sector with the UX community while championing digital design excellence.

Our Values

Humanitarian

We actively promote human welfare and social reform.

April 2016 – Exploring the challenges faced by pregnant women in transit and at refugee camps, with the purpose of identifying life-threatening symptoms and the ultimate goal of saving lives.

Our Values

Philanthropic

We freely offer our expertise and give back to the communities that raised us.

Since 2015 – A project matching junior UX designers with DrawMyLife. The designers gain an opportunity to improve their skills and make a difference while raising awareness of the impact of war on children’s lives.

Our Values

Creative

We challenge conventional thinking. Always.

October 2018 – Co-designing with people leaving care, finding creative ways to empower their transition into the labour market and take their first step towards independence.

Our Values

Meritocratic

We earn respect through initiative, proactiveness and shared knowledge.

August 2018 – Launching our NYC chapter with a design sprints workshop with Kandis O’Brien (founder of The Six). Our goal: helping a non-profit send 10 underprivileged girls to university.

Our Values

Inclusive

We welcome involvement from all and give equally to all.

October 2018 – Exploring ways of keeping gender diverse children and their parents safe online while fostering their sense of community. A mini-hack at Facebook HQ.

What makes UX for Change a reality is the endless dedication of our leadership teams. We are a diverse group of passionate individuals committed to bringing change to the world by volunteering our time to the UX for Change mission.

Our Global Leadership Team

“I founded UX for Change because I saw an opportunity to address the gap there is between the UX Design community and other sectors that are important to the future of our world”

Sandra Gonzalez

Founder/Director

Our Local Leadership Team

“ I have been deeply involved with the growth of the UX space from the evolution of a number of new roles and requirements to the ever-increasing skill shortage for talent with experience in the field.”
